Greetings to all Former Police Officers throughout the world!!!
This blog is primarily dedicated to the men & women who have served the Police Forces of the Caribbean and, more particularly, the Commonwealth of Dominica. We are aware that most of our former colleagues have sought “greener pastures” in the Diaspora, therefore, this blog is intended to bridge this gap.
In April 2007, a number of former police officer in Dominica came together to form an Association. The Association’s 1st Annual General Meeting was held on August 2008. The Association is now registered as a Non-Profit Organization under the Company’s Act of Dominica – Former Police Officers – Dominica (AFPOD) Inc. The Association is also featured on the Social Network Website – http://www.dominica-diaspora.com/group/formerpoliceofficers – and we have been able to attract fifteen (15) of our former colleagues now residing in the Diaspora.
I am the Secretary of this Association of which more information will be given as we develop this blog. While the initial aim of this blog is to re-connect with our former colleagues, my personal desire is to see the formation of an Association of former police officers spanning the Caribbean. To further this aim, I will be initiating a long term plan (3-5 years) for a convention of former police officers of the Caribbean in Dominica. The idea have not yet been presented to the Association but I do not envisage a rejection of the plan.
This aim should not dominate discussion on this blog. We know that there is a reach history of policing in the Caribbean. Lets us begin to share the legacies, stories and jokes that we are all proud of.
I am in no way a career policeman. I spent ten (10) years in the police force and these years have helped shape my life. I have my fair share of experiences being a second generation policeman.
So, welcome ALL and let’s begin talking about “the good ole days“.
